 The S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, an autonomous organization for advanced scientific research funded by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, invites application from Indian Nationals working in the Central/ State Government/ Union Territories/ Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous/ Semi-Government/ Statutory Organizations for the position of

Librarian-cum-Information Officer

in the pay scale of PB3 (15,600-39,100) with Grade Pay 6600 on deputation basis (including short term contract)/ direct recruitment.

Eligibility Conditions:

1. For Deputation

(i)   Holding analogous posts on regular basis; or

(ii)  With 5 years regular service in posts in the pre-revised pay scale of Rs. 8000-13500 or in the revised pay scale PB3 (Rs. 15,600-39,100) with G.P. Rs. 5400/- or equivalent.

Period of Deputation: The period of deputation for the said post is one year but can be extended for 3 years on year to year basis on mutual terms or permanent absorption before completion of 3 years.

2. For Direct Recruitment:

(i)   Educational Qualification: Master's Degree in Library Science or M.Sc. with a first class from any University or institute of national importance. A candidate with a Ph.D in Library Science will have a preference. Knowledge of use of Computer and automated library management system is essential.

(ii)  Experience:

§              Experience in managing library of Science & Technology Laboratories/ Educational Institutions with research & development activities for 8 years.

§              Experience in web based resource management for library development & maintenance.

§              Experience of building a top-class scientific library will be preferred.

Responsibilities:   To organize and manage a top-grade scientific library with print and digital resources including documentation.

Age: The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall not exceed 40 years on the closing date of the receipt of applications. This however, may be relaxed for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped or candidates who prove to be exceptionally qualified or experienced.

General Instructions:

§         The Centre reserves the right to call suitable candidates in their opinion for interview or relax qualifications.

§         Candidates should bring their last pay certificates if called for interview.

§         Age should not exceed the limit as on the closing date of receipt of completed application. However, age relaxation will be considered in case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped as applicable.

§         The prescribed essential qualifications/experience indicated are bare minimum and mere possession of same will not entitle candidates to be called for interview.

§         Relaxation of age, educational qualification and/or experience will be considered in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates, with prior approval of the Competent Authority.

§         Application incomplete in any respect and not accompanied by relevant certificate/document/photograph will be rejected.

Applications from the eligible candidates should be duly forwarded through their department alongwith personal data in the prescribed format, complete CR dossiers upto 2009 and a certificate of integrity and vigilance clearance in respect of the officer.
